Farmers' Markets - Find A Farmers' Market Near St Ives Cornwall

Cornwall does local produce exceptionally well. We grow so much down here that is no surprise. We also have AMAZING small local businesses who bake, cook and preserve, creating a wealth of delicious food high in goodness and low in food miles and packaging.

St Ives Farmers' Market

When: weekly on a Thursday from 9:30am - 2pm
Where: The Guildhall in St Ives on Street-an-Pol

St Ives Farmers' Market is the farmers' market closest to my heart. I love the place and visit it most weeks. It is brimming full of local producers and there is often something new and exciting to try.

St Ives Farmers' Market runs every Thursday from 9:30am to 2pm in The Guildhall in St Ives. If you walk down Street-an-Pol (near Weatherspoons off Tregenna Hill) you will see the wares brimming out of the hall at the side of The Guildhall.

I love the ethos behind St Ives Farmers' Market. They say that any business that grows, bakes, rears, catches, smokes, brews or cures local food (within 30 miles of St Ives) is eligible to take part in the market. They favour free range and organic and the majority of the stalls sell food or drink. They really try to have a varied range of stalls and try to avoid having stalls selling similar things. This makes for a very interesting farmers' market.

I've written a more detailed blog all about St Ives Farmers' Market here.

St Ives Farmers' Market do have a very good website with details of lots about their regular stall holders. Click here to visit it.

Penzance has been a market town for centuries but sadly the farmers' market died off in the 1990s. Hurrah for Penzance though, it was resurrected with a passion in March 2009 and has been going strong ever since!

Penzance Farmers' Market is all about quality local food. All of the producers grow, rear and create their products nearby, bringing home made and unique tastes to the market whilst cutting down on food miles.

The types of stalls you can except to see at Penzance Farmers' Market are locally grown fruit and veg, local meat, breads and baked goods, amazing gluten free cakes (my Mum especially likes these!), deli foods, honey, eggs, Indian food and so much more. My mouth is watering just writing about it!

Every October, Penzance Farmers' Markethosts a special Apple Day in celebration of harvest and especially of Cornish apples.
