I always find February Half Term tricky. The weather is usually pretty rubbish and lots of things are still closed. However, I have rooted out lots of ideas of things you could do if you are in and around St Ives Cornwall.

Farms & Animals

Paradise Park in Hayle. Lovely animal park with both tropical and local birds and animals. Feeding times for the penguins and otters. The animals are all outdoors but there is an indoor soft play (The Jungle Barn) if it gets too cold and wet. More Info

RSPB Hayle Estuary. More Info

Trevaskis Farm. Lovely working farm that you can walk round and see the animals. Admission to the farm is FREE and it is open from 8am - 7pm. There is a shop and restaurant which are also open over half term. More Info

Mutton Cove (Seal Cove) Godrevy Point (on the headland near Godrevy Lighthouse). Drive up and park in the National Trust car park. Walk up onto the headland and you will see signs saying "please talk quietly so not to disturb the seals". If you look down into the cove below you may be lucky enough to see dozens of seals. FREE (except for parking which is free with NT membership). More Info

Greeb Farm. Greeb Farm is part of the Land's End complex. It is a small farm with feeding and petting times with a craft centre attached. Your entry is included with your ticket into the Land's End complex. I'm waiting to hear from them if they are definitely opening for February Half Term. More Info

Glendurgan Birds and Garden, 11th - 19th Feb, The Birds Of Glendurgan Half Term trail. 10:30am - 4:30pm. No extra charge - included in your admission price (National Trust). More Info

Dairyland Farm World near Newquay. Ok, this is a bit further afield but is really worth a visit. You get to look around the farm and also go into The Bull Pen, which is a big indoor soft play area. More Info

Cornish Camels, Helston. Although primarily a wedding venue, Cornish Camels do have a farm trail and nature reserve with camels and wallabies. They also have a giant sand pit, childrens play area, picnic area and shop. I'm waiting to hear from them if they are definitely opening for February Half Term. More Info

Cornish Seal Sanctuary, Gweek near Helston. This is another bit of a drive from St Ives, but make a superb day out. Visit all the rescued seals and read their stories. As well a seals, they have sea lions, otters and penguins. It is also "Pup Season" for the seals, which means a lot of rescue pups in the hospital and convalesence pools. More Info

Newquay Zoo, Newquay. Opens 10am. Children over 3 £10.20, adults £13.60. Under 3's go free. More Info

Soft Play

Paradise Park, Hayle. The Jungle Barn is a big indoor soft play area. There is an under 5's area and a main soft play area with 3 big slides, lots of obstacle courses and space to run around in. Entry is included in the price of your ticket. You can also just go to the Jungle Barn from 3pm - 6pm. This costs £4.99 per child and £3.99 per adult. You can then get a return ticket for £3.50. Brewers Fayre, Hayle. The Brewers Fayre is at the big roundabout by Next and M&S near Hayle. For £3 (or I think the purchase of a drink) your child can play in the soft play room for 90 mins. Opens at 9:30am. More Info
