St Ives Library is located right in the heart of the town, on the corner of Tregenna Place and Gabriel Street.
It is a really lovely little library with very helpful and welcoming staff (my old neighbour Jane being one of them!).
There is a nice sized children's area at the back of the library (on the ground floor). It is really well stocked and has comfy cushions, boxes of books to look through, and a drawing table always set up.
We use the library once or twice a week. We take our 1 year old to Bounce and Rhyme with Jane (Wednesday mornings 10:45 - 11:15). We also take our 5 year old regularly. She loves looking through the books, choosing once to take home, and doing colouring at the drawing table.
They have a brilliant selection of children's books and, if you are looking for something specific, they will order it in for you.
Children's books can be borrowed by visitors to the town. You just need to take your local library card in and exchange it for a temporary St Ives Library card. This is really useful if you are coming here on holiday - you don't need to bring a huge pile of books with you!
Chatterbooks Book Group for children on the second Wednesday of each month at 3.45pm-4.30pm
Lego Club - St Ives Library is launching a Lego club at 3.45pm-4.45pm on the second Monday of the month, free to all primary school aged children, but places are very limited. If you have any unwanted Lego at home, all donations of unwanted Lego would be gratefully received.
There is also a range of adult groups including poetry circles, reading groups history groups and yoga.
During the school holidays the library organises art and craft groups for young children. The most recent one was a sewing class - we made an Easter Chick out of felt.
