One of my favourite bits about Christmas is the sparkly Christmas lights. Each town in Cornwall makes a big event out of it and it’s a great time to get out in the Winter evenings to meet up with friends and admire the lights.
Living in St Ives, we always go down to the harbour for the big Christmas lights switch on. St Ives has a really good committee called St Ives In December. They work really hard to bring things together for the town for Christmas. This includes Santa’s arrival on the RNLI lifeboat, a lantern parade through the town, shop window displays, a town treasure hunt and lots more.
Over the Christmas period we also like to visit other towns to check out their lights. The kids absolutely love it – it is far more appealing to them than Bonfire Night!
We always visit Truro, Angarrack and of course Mousehole. Mousehole is absolutely stunning, and we always combine it with a lovely meal out in the town!
