St Ives has it’s own skate park! It is behind the Penbeagle Palemon Play Park up on Penbeagle Hill.
The Current Skate Park
The current skate park in St Ives was built by the council in 2004. It is made of a steel and wood construction with tarmac ground. This has it’s problems in that it gets really slippery in the rain and it is easy to damage, but expensive to repair.
Many local skaters are going further afield to skate in concrete parks – there are good skate parks in Hayle, Penzance and Mount Pleasant.
St Ives Skate Park Fund Raiser
There is a big fund raising initiative going on in St Ives to raise money to revamp our current skate park into a smartly designed, concrete skate park. This will appeal to a much wider range of users.
Lots of local fund raising events are being held, and the money is starting to come in!
