Carbis Bay Beach - A Stunning Paradise

With its soft golden sand and turquoise waters, Carbis Bay Beach is one of Cornwall’s most beautiful and family-friendly destinations.

The Essential Guide To St Ives Cornwall

Swimming and Safety

Thanks to its sheltered position, Carbis Bay is one of the safest swimming beaches in Cornwall.

In peak season, lifeguards patrol the beach, giving extra peace of mind for families with children. 2025 they are patrolling from 19th July to 7th September 2025 10am till 6pm.

Dogs On The Beach

There is a dog ban on Carbis Bay Beach between 15th May to 30th September, between 10am and 6pm.

Facilities at Carbis Bay

  • Toilets and showers
  • Beach cafe and restaurants
  • Beach equipment hire (deckchairs, paddleboards, kayaks)

How to Get to Carbis Bay Beach

By Car

Follow signs from the A30 to St Ives and Carbis Bay. Parking is available above the beach (but fills up quickly in summer).

Car Parking

Park up the hill at Porthrepta or the church and walk down the hill. The car parking at the bottom by the beach is horrendously expensive.

By Train

The scenic St Ives Bay Line stops at Carbis Bay station, just a short walk down to the beach.

On Foot

The South West Coast Path links Carbis Bay with both St Ives and Lelant, offering stunning views along the way.

Local Tips

Arrive early in summer. Carbis Bay is popular and parking is limited.

For a quieter experience, visit outside peak season. The beach is just as beautiful in spring and autumn.

If you’re walking the coast path, the views looking down onto Carbis Bay from the cliffs are unforgettable.

Carbis Bay Beach is the perfect spot if you’re looking for safe swimming, golden sands, and stunning scenery. Whether you’re on a family holiday, exploring the coast path, or simply seeking a peaceful place to relax, Carbis Bay is one of Cornwall’s true treasures.
