The building's origins date back to 1846 when it was designed by architect Christopher Eales in the Italianate style.
Originally serving as a market hall and civic center, it underwent various transformations over the years, including serving as a skating rink and cinema in the early 20th century.
In 1997, after significant refurbishment, it reopened as Hall for Cornwall, becoming the county's leading theatre and arts venue.
