The school half term holidays are almost upon us with Halloween at the end of them. If, like us, you have young children to entertain, here are some ideas of what there is to do down here in St Ives over the next couple of weeks.

Rogue Theatre - Dead Of Night Dance 2022

Conkercom at Carbis Bay Beach

We will have the ultimate winner, the person who wins the most battles against everyone. We will also have an under 13's age group and probably the most sought after the 'best dressed conker!' dress and decorate your conker with the maddest themes you can dream of.
October Half Term At Trengwainton National Trust
Date: 23rd - 30th October
Location: Trengwainton National Trust, Penzance
Pick up a card from reception and play autumn colours bingo. How many can you tick off around the garden? Collect fallen leaves and make leaf bunting on the Royal Meadow.
Horrible Histories At The Minack Theatre
Date: 22nd to 26th October
Location: The Minack Theatre, Porthcurno
From the horrible Henries to the end of evil Elizabeth, hear the legends (and the lies!) about the torturing Tudors. Find out the fate of Henry's headless wives and his punch up with the Pope. Meet Bloody Mary and see Ed fall dead in his bed. Survive the Spanish Armada as they launch their attack!
Silhouettes & Shadows and Halloween At The Maritime Museum
Date: 24th - 28th October
Location: National Maritime Museum, Falmouth
Ghost ships gliding on the foggy seas, a whale with a greedy appetite for pesky pirates and a menacing skeleton crew who lure unsuspecting sailors aboard their ship with … sausage sandwiches?!
This October half term take to the spooky high seas for eerie songs and ghostly shadow puppet stories in the Museum’s Main Hall.
Halloween at Pendennis Castle
Date: 22nd - 30th October
Location: Pendennis Castle, Falmouth
Gather your little monsters and prepare for a ghoulishly good day out at Pendennis Castle.
Follow Dennis, Gnasher and friends to solve creepy clues on the fun family quest around the grounds. Then, meet our storytellers to hear tall tales of the strange, the supernatural and the downright silly! Seek out Fermont and Fiddler, the monster meddlers, to learn all about how to apprehend demons, werewolves and vampires. Listen to Spooky Stories for all the family, and even join the Fantasm Apparition Research and Takedown ghost hunters as they lead a scien-terrific quest around the grounds to find and take down the ghostly ghouls they find.

There’s a host of fang-tastic family fun on offer at Flambards throughout the October Half Term holidays (Saturday 22nd – Sunday 30th October 2022) as we celebrate ‘Trick or Treat Week’!
Your October Half Term adventures start here… All rides and attractions open 10am – 5pm to enjoy, including the white-knuckle Sky-Force ride and Western Mine Train!
Pick up a Pumkin Hunt sheet and hunt for clues throughout out the park - Get it right and you might even win a treat!! Or tackle the Penny Dreadful quiz sheet or Mystery Trial in the Victorian village.

Porthminster Beach Clean
Date: 29th October at 1pm
Location: Porthminster Beach, St Ives
Come along to Porthminster Beach, help clean the beach and also to raise money for the St Ives RFC Youth Section. All welcome!
Trick or Treating In St Ives
Date: Monday 31st October
Location: St Ives
Trick or treating around the houses in St Ives is brilliant! People really go the extra mile for the children and the atmosphere is always amazing. Alexandra Rd up by the Rugby Club is good (where we live) and all the roads going off from there. The Penbeagle Estate is also good, as is Carbis Bay on the non-seaward side of the main road. Locals and visitors are all welcome to join in!
Pumpkin Picking at Splattenridden Farm
PYO Pumpkin picking dates, 15-16th of Oct, 22nd-23rd Oct and half term week 24th to the 30th, 10am until 15.30, loads of different sizes, ghost pumpkins, zombie and miniature gourds! well behaved dogs on leads are welcome cash and cards accepted, keep an eye out for updates incase the weather stops play!
Bonfire Night At Porthminster Beach
Date: Saturday 5th November
Location: Porthminster Beach, St Ives
Free entry - please donate to the St Ives Town Football Club. Barbecue, drink and firework display. Starts about 5:30pm. All welcome!

It looks like the boat trips are still running for the October Half Term but we have to assume this is weather dependent!
Jubilee Pool Swim
If you fancy an open air swim in the gorgeous artdeco Lido in Penzance, you can book tickets for the October Half Term here
Open Top Bus To Land's End
The open top bus is still running from St Ives to Land's End but on a reduced Winter service. If you can go on a sunny day it would make a great day out!
