St Ives gets the best and most glorious sunsets. I think the best place to watch the sun setting is on Porthmeor Beach. There is nothing quite so lovely as having spent the day on the beach in the warm sun. As the day draws in, we layer up with sweaters, get a little bbq going and get the Doom Bar on ice.
Another quite splendid place to watch the sun set and to spot the elusive green flash is from Carnstabba Hill in the Summertime. Hike up to the top in time to see the setting sun. Once it has set, walk back down for a nice bite to eat and a drink in the Halsetown Inn.
Further round the bay, Gwithian and Godrevy get some beautiful sunsets in the Summer. Sitting on the cliffs there watching the sun set and the seals play in the surf is quite wonderful. If you fancy a pub with a view of the sunset, The Bluff Inn in Hayle is a good place to go. They also have a super pub garden with a great play area for kids.

Watching the sunset is included in our lovely game, The Great St Ives Pasty Dash. It is one of our little postcards and you get to watch the sun setting on Porthmeor (and steal a pasty if it is someone else's beach!) If you love St Ives you will love playing our game!
